Multiple ‘Global Cheese Award’ Wins for Wyke Farms

Several award wins secure the brands position as ‘cheddar with more awards than any other’

Bruton, Somerset, 1st October 2019 – Wyke Farms, the UK’s largest independent cheese producers and producers of renewable energy today announce details of several award wins achieved over the awards season. The brand continues to achieve more awards for their traditional cheddar than any other. Most notably at the Global Cheese Awards, held at Frome Show, the company received eight awards including:

  • Wyke Farms Vintage Cheddar: Gold awarded in the ‘Best West Country Cheddar’ category.
  • Wyke Farms Vintage Cheddar: Gold awarded in the ‘Creamery Vintage Cheddar’ category
  • Wyke Farms Vintage Cheddar: Silver awarded in the ‘Best Somerset Cheddar’ category.


Six further gold awards, ten silver awards and seven bronze awards have also been achieved this summer at the International Cheese Awards, the South West Cheese Awards and the Great Yorkshire Show.

Rich Clothier, 3rd generation cheesemaker and Managing Director, says: “The awards mean a lot to my family here in Somerset. When it was your own Grandmother who developed the recipe, the judging feels personal! We are of course, delighted to continue to receive the accolades we know the cheese deserves year after year.”


Wyke Farms has been producing its award-winning cheddar to their secret family recipe for over 150 years and has grown to become one of the largest family-owned cheese makers in Britain selling over 15,000 tonnes annually to over 160 countries around the world.

Wyke Farms’ cheese and butter is made with the milk from their cows grazing the lush pastures of the Mendip Hills in the centre of the Cheddar making region in Somerset.
