Wyke Farms is a family run company based in Somerset and are the only independent dairy company within the top 10 cheddar brands in the UK. The company has been making cheddar to the same family recipe since 1861 and have achieved substantial growth year on year by staying true to the traditional values behind the brand.
New packaging now available in store as Wyke Farms unveil first major rebrand
Somerset, UK 03rd September 2012: - Wyke Farms, the UK’s largest independent cheese producer and milk processor, today reveal their new brand identity as their award winning cheddar gets a face-lift. The new pack designs give the Wyke Farms brand increased shelf impact with improved block branding, while retaining the company’s well know premium image and farmhouse feel.
The new packaging features a redesigned logo and product descriptor within a large speech bubble. The background scene communicates the brands fresh and natural credentials showing the Wyke Farms landscape with cows, a tractor and an oak tree. “A strong brand has a good story behind it and that’s certainly true of Wyke Farms,” said Rich Clothier, Managing Director and third generation family member at Wyke Farms, he continues “the speech bubble is on both the front and back of pack to highlight our unique family farming story”
Wyke Farms allowed the general public to choose the new pack designs earlier this summer when their Facebook community was asked to vote on which pack design they should use. The company was committed to accepting the ‘wisdom of the crowd’ and as a result has used the winning design for all their packaging. The designs will also be carried through all brand collateral in the coming months with a new website, sampling stands and marketing material all being launched later this year.
The brand re launch will be supported with a £5 million print and poster advertising campaign and sampling to over 1 million consumers at 37 events next year.
Wyke Farms worked with design agency Tynan D’arcy to produce the new pack designs, which are on shelf from September at Asda, Co-op, Makro, Sainsbury’s Tesco and Waitrose. The new pack designs can be viewed here.
Wyke Farms has been producing its award-winning cheddar for over a century and has grown to become the largest family-owned cheese maker in Britain selling over 14,000 tonnes annually. The company have achieved substantial growth year on year by staying true to the traditional values behind the brand and have become the fastest growing cheddar brand at a rate of 10% every year for the past five years.
Wyke Farms have 150 years of family farming experience. Wyke Farms’ cheese and butter is made with the milk from their cows grazing the lush pastures of the Mendip Hills in the centre of the Cheddar making region in Somerset.
The Wyke Farms products are available nationwide and can be found in Asda, Co-op, Makro, Sainsbury’s Tesco and Waitrose.
