CE+T networking vendor adds innovative gateway functionality and multi-service access switch to its mobile backhaul solution

Tel Aviv, Israel – March 23, 2010 – Orckit Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ: ORCT), the leading Carrier Ethernet + Transport (CE+T) networking vendor, today announced the company has made significant upgrades to its mobile backhaul offering, which now encompasses a complete portfolio featuring new and innovative technologies. The newly extended solution combines gateway functionality on Orckit-Corrigent’s CM-4140 MPLS aggregation switch along with the introduction of the CM-11, a new multi-service access switch and cell site gateway. Together, this Carrier Ethernet solution enables the migration of low and high-rate TDM services, as well as data services, to a unified MPLS mobile network. For the first time ever, cell site, hub site and aggregation site gateways have finally been implemented on the same switching products, therefore introducing a scalable and affordable opportunity for mobile networking infrastructure.

“Having realized the full impact of Smartphones on network performance, mobile operators are starting to build their next generation networks with tremendous focus on data delivery and investment levels,” said Mr. Sharon Mantin, VP Marketing at Orckit-Corrigent. “Since Orckit-Corrigent specializes in Layer 2 MPLS switching coupled with circuit emulation and synchronization technologies, the company is in an excellent position to fulfill the vast potential for the mobile backhaul market.”

One of the most important growth engines for mobile operators is their ability to offer any type of content. The massive delivery of Internet and TV content is impacting mobile backhauling infrastructure, which was originally built to handle voice traffic. The road ahead is fraught with technical challenges such as how to deliver significantly more data while preserving the synchronous nature of the network, and how to perform phased migration from a TDM network to a packet-based network. The consensus among industry analysts is that Ethernet enables next generation mobile networks.

“Our new extended solution introduces the innovative implementation of all mobile gateways, packed in with a small footprint and power consumption that is unmatched in the market, and eliminates the traditional solution that is based on two products: a switch, plus a gateway,” added Mr. Mantin. “We can now deliver any TDM service, from E1 to STM, and meet mobile backhaul requirements with ease and superior efficiency.”

Orckit-Corrigent’s mobile backhaul solution is based on the CM-4140 MPLS aggregation switch, CM-11 multi-service access switch and CM-View management system. This solution introduces cost efficiency and technology advantages to the market by enabling the delivery of TDM services over standard and interoperable MPLS networks, in addition to gateway functionality that is implemented on the switches.

CM-4140

The CM-4140 brings added value in its MPLS/Ethernet/TDM package, solution offering and aggressive price point. The product is positioned as Hub and/or Aggregation Site Gateway (HSG/ASG) and is equipped with the following key capabilities:

Standard and interoperable Layer 2 MPLS

Dense mixture of GE, 10GE and PDH/SDH interfaces

E1, STM-1/4/16 over packet

CEP, SAToP, CESoP

Synchronous Ethernet, IEEE 1588v2

168G switching capacity at 3RU footprint with 250W of power consumption

CM-11

The CM-11 is a flexible multi-service access switch with E1/T1, FE/GE interfaces that enables the delivery of voice, video and data services in mobile networks. The product is positioned as Cell Site Gateway (CSG) and is equipped with the following key capabilities:

E1/T1 and FE/GE interfaces

SAToP, CESoP, ETHoP

Synchronous Ethernet, IEEE 1588v2

CM-View

The CM-View is a high-end management and service provisioning system, providing “transport-class” management capabilities for mobile networks. The CM-View eliminates the need for costly and complex CLI provisioning and offers a significant OPEX reduction.

CE+T networking provider participates in multi-vendor Carrier Ethernet interoperability event organized by EANTC

Tel Aviv, Israel – February 09, 2010 – Orckit Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ: ORCT), the leading Carrier Ethernet + Transport (CE+T) networking vendor, today announced its participation in the MPLS and Ethernet World Congress multi-vendor interoperability testing event, organized by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC). For the testing, Orckit-Corrigent submitted members of its CM-4000 CE+T products as well as its CM-11 multi-service access switches. The products demonstrate MPLS and MPLS-TP interoperability for advanced services and applications such as VPLS and video broadcasting, as well as advanced technologies such as synchronization, OAM, SAToP and IGMP snooping in order to deliver enterprise VPN, residential triple play and mobile backhauling in metro area networks.

“I am very pleased that Orckit-Corrigent continues to participate in our tests,” said Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director at EANTC. “In a competitive networking environment, interoperability is a valuable asset, and Orckit-Corrigent is realizing that by expanding its participation this year and demonstrating more interoperable technologies and services.”

Orckit-Corrigent’s interoperable products are based on Layer 2 standards and are able to deliver all types of Ethernet services as well as low and high rates of TDM traffic. The products are exclusive in their low power consumption and high capacity on a small form factor. Combined with a transport-class management system, the end-to-end solution is both scalable and affordable.

“Orckit-Corrigent’s continued investment in interoperability is catering to a real market demand for best-of-breed,” said Sharon Mantin, VP marketing at Orckit-Corrigent. “Telecommunication service providers are characterizing the most appropriate products for each network domain. Therefore, today’s networking infrastructure requires multi-vendor and interoperable capabilities for advanced, QoS based, services with comprehensive OAM and protection schemes. In the event we clearly see the dominancy of MPLS technology as transport and services enabler. This is in line with our customers’ requirements and growth plans.”

Tel Aviv, Israel – January 21, 2010 – Orckit Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ: ORCT), the leading Carrier Ethernet + Transport (CE+T) networking vendor, today announced the establishment of a new office in Manila to address the Philippines telecommunication sector. Mr. Lindsay Ryan, a veteran telecommunication sales and business development professional, has held key Regional positions throughout APAC for a number of major telecommunication players. Some of his key roles included International Sales Manager for AWA (Amalgamated Wireless Australasia), V.P Sales Asia Pacific with Scientific-Atlanta and Chief Representative China and Philippines with Gilat Satellite Communications Company. Lindsay has enthusiastically joined the company as regional sales manager to head the new office.

“We are exceptionally pleased to have Lindsay join us as the head of our newest office. I trust that Lindsay’s vast experience and knowhow of the market will significantly contribute to our success in the Philippines,” said Mr. Oren Tepper, Vice President corporate sales at Orckit-Corrigent. “Inaugurating our Philippines office follows the company plan to address strategic markets by enhancing our local service and support capabilities. APAC is a key region for the company given the projected expenditure increase in Ethernet based Metro Networks and leveraging our proven install base and experience with three top Tier-1 service providers in the region.”

The APAC region continues to see rapid bandwidth growth and phased migration from legacy PDH/SDH technologies and TDM services to MPLS technology and packet-based services, resulting increased demand for cost optimized Carrier Ethernet + Transport solutions. Orckit-Corrigent’s field-proven MPLS and TDM over packet technologies integrated with design-to-cost architecture introduce an optimal offering to meet this demand.

“Orckit Corrigent has an excellent track record in APAC. I am excited to become a valued part of their talented team of professionals and strongly believe in the company’s growth potential and the significant opportunities presented by their state of the art technology,” said Mr. Lindsay Ryan, regional sales manager at Orckit-Corrigent. “With the introduction of standard and cost optimized Carrier Ethernet solutions that couple MPLS and circuit emulation technologies, Orckit-Corrigent is well positioned to meet the Philippines telecom sector needs by offering phased migration from traditional transport to packet based networks avoiding a painful clear cut and fork lifting of SDH installed base.”
